Furloughed and Fabulous is a free service that supports furloughed professionals and arts/ cultural organisations to make the most of specialist volunteer opportunities.
If you are an organisation that needs specialist skills, a second pair of eyes or need something done that has no resource, are a freelance or are on furlough and want to contribute to the sector or find fulfilling work that improves your CV, we want to help.
WHAT WE DO
We are a bespoke volunteering service for the creative sector. We match furloughed volunteers with arts and cultural organisations by facilitating that process.
WHY WE STARTED FURLOUGHED AND FABULOUS
Furloughed staff are a fabulous resource.
In this time of crisis, we have developed an organic, responsive project. We want to maximise the opportunity of experienced, furloughed staff looking to volunteer by facilitating it. We want to help participants and the sector as a whole to emerge stronger and more resilient and will develop the service as needed.
In the short term, they could bring extra perspectives or needed skills to your organisation, spot something that you missed in the urgency of coronavirus crisis response and be shown as in-kind match funding in grant applications. This work could be shown as in-kind match funding in applications.
Longer term we want to support a dynamic and resilient workforce, and establish a realistic professional development programme that grows and nurtures our talents.

Right now there are lots of fabulous people currently at home feeling frustrated. While they are not able to channel their energies into positive creative outputs for their organisations, they could do so for you.
Please note: We are aware that times are tough for all colleagues across the sector. This project is intended to build capacity and maximize resources utilising skills of colleagues who are furloughed. Volunteer roles cannot replace paid roles. If there is budget available to pay staff, particularly freelancers, this should always be the first option.

ORGANISATIONS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

- Time-limited projects that would benefit from additional admin support
- Evaluation and monitoring for new activities
- Project plans that have been put on hold, for example new strands of work for schools or in collaboration with other arts practices
- Risk free review of business plans or strategy (either consultancy or proof reader)
- New ideas or ways of working that are limited by resources or skills in the existing team
